There’s a wave of excitement running through the tech world – and it’s all thanks to Google’s latest revamp of its virtual assistant, Gemini. The tech giant has made it possible for this multifaceted chatbot to generate interactive 3D models and simulations, adding an entirely new dimension to our information-seeking (or idle curiosity-satisfying) endeavours.
So, how does all of this work, you may wonder. With the newly introduced feature of Gemini, you can directly interact with AI-generated models. Yes, it’s just as futuristic as it sounds. Today, you can nudge Gemini to build a 3D iteration of the Earth’s structure, tomorrow you might want to play around with its rendition of a supermassive black hole – the possibilities are quite literally, mind-bogglingly endless!
With Gemini’s 3D models, you get access to a range of interaction options. For example, you could rotate the model around to view it from different angles. It’s like holding the Earth in your hands, except easier and, well, less science fiction. Then there are sliders you could fiddle with to customise the model according to your liking or needs. You can also input different values to alter the simulation in real-time. It’s almost like dipping your toes into a world of augmented reality and coming out with a wealth of knowledge in tow.
I couldn’t resist the temptation to test Gemini’s innovative feature myself. So, I asked the chatbot to whip up a simulation of the Moon orbiting the Earth. The result was an intricate 3D model complete with a few exciting ways to interact with it. There was a slider to control the speed of the Moon’s orbit, a toggle button to put away the line signifying its orbital path, and a nifty pause button, just in case you wanted to catch a breather from the all too realistic simulation.
Google’s Gemini is yet another example of how technology is constantly making strides towards a future where complexities are simplified, and knowledge is made more accessible – one 3D model at a time.
